Getting Here

The Conference will be held at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center in downtown Santa Fe, NM.

Santa Fe is a lively and inviting destination, known for its rich culture and welcoming hospitality, nestled in the heart of the American Southwest in the southern Rocky Mountains. If this is your first visit to New Mexico, you may want arrive early or stay a few extra days to explore

If you’ll be flying to New Mexico, it is important to note that there are two airport options available. We typically recommend flying into the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), as it offers a wide array of direct and connecting flights via Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Jet Blue, Southwest and United airlines. ABQ is located just over an hour’s drive from downtown Santa Fe.

Groome Transportation provides shuttle service for under $50 per person (each way); drop off and pick-up is available at all Featured Hotels and the Convention Center. Shuttle reservations are required; call 505-474-5696 or book onlineRental Cars are also available or you can make advance reservations with a Car Service.

Alternatively, the smaller Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) offers service to Denver, Phoenix and Dallas via American and United airlines. SAF is located about 25 minutes from downtown Santa Fe via Uber/Lyft, or you can make advance reservations with a Car ServiceRental Cars are also available at SAF.

Amtrak provides national passenger rail service on the Southwest Chief via the Lamy Station, with shuttle service into downtown Santa Fe.

Getting Around

The MidSchoolMath National Conference is held at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center located at 201 W. Marcy Street in historic downtown Santa Fe.

The Convention Center is located a short 5-10 minute walk from all Featured Hotels. Attendees staying in the immediate downtown area will be able to easily access all activities and events on foot and will not require a car during the conference.

Downtown Santa Fe is full of museums and attractions you can easily explore as time allows, though some popular destinations, such as Meow Wolf, are located outside of downtown. Using your smartphone to arrange for a ride via Uber or Lyft is an easy way to access these destinations.

If you plan to head out and explore other parts of New Mexico after the Conference, you’ll want to make reservations to pick up a rental car from either airport.

Driving Directions

For attendees who will be driving to the Conference each day, parking is available in the Convention Center Parking Garage for $12 per day (no in/out privileges). Note that the parking garage entrance is located at 119 S. Federal Place, between Lincoln and Grant Ave.

Weather & Altitude

Santa Fe is typically very clear, sunny and dry. In early March, temperatures can range from 45 to 55 degrees F in the day, with lows ranging from 26 to 28 degrees F overnight.  We recommend dressing in layers to stay comfortable, both inside and outside.

Located at 7,000 feet above sea level, it’s important to know that Santa Fe is a high-altitude destination with rarefied, thinner air. Staying hydrated and moderating your alcohol intake can help make for an easier adjustment.

While the large majority of visitors to the region are not bothered by the altitude, people with certain health conditions, such as heart disease, lung disease and sickle cell disease should talk to their doctor before traveling to Santa Fe.

Dining

Santa Fe has a vibrant culinary arts scene, with casual and upscale restaurants worth exploring.

During the Conference, you’ll have time for lunch on your own in Santa Fe on Friday. A short list of nearby Cafes and Restaurants will be provided.

Dinner reservations are recommended, particularly for groups, as most downtown restaurants are located in small, historic buildings. Staff at all Featured Hotels can make recommendations and even assist with making reservations. Casual dress is fine for most restaurants.
